Coimbra City Council encourages girls to use digital technologies

13 / May

The Coimbra City Council (CM) promoted today, May 14, at 9:30 a.m., an awareness-raising action among 10th grade students at the Jaime Cortesão Secondary School, with the aim of stimulating girls’ interest in information and communication technologies.

The initiative was promoted by TUMO Coimbra, the municipality’s partner in developing digital skills among the younger population, and aimed to awaken the participants’ interest in areas such as programming, digital design, robotics, among others, promoting equal opportunities in access to the professions of the future.

The municipal initiative, carried out through the municipality’s Office for Equality and Inclusion, is part of the Digital Business Neighborhoods Project and aims to reduce gender inequalities in the technology sector, encouraging the empowerment and active participation of girls in the digital world.
